Whether you are buying MS pipe, SS pipe, CR pipe or GI pipe, price follows the same logic. Knowing it helps you compare vendors fairly. We do not publish fixed rates here because steel prices move often; request a live quote.
Price formula
Total price = (Weight in kg × Rate per kg) + GST + Freight / loading
Step 1: Find the weight
- Round pipe: kg/m = (OD − t) × t × 0.02466
- Square / rectangular: kg/m = 0.00785 × t × (2 × (A + B) − 4t)
- Weight per piece = kg/m × length (usually 6 m)
Use the weight calculator or the SHS / RHS weight chart.
What affects steel pipe price
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Raw material rate (coil / strip) | Main driver of rate per kg |
| Material grade | SS 316 costs more than SS 304; CR costs more than HR |
| Wall thickness | Heavier pipe, higher total price; thickness tolerance matters |
| Finish | Galvanizing, polishing or honing adds cost |
| Quantity | Bulk orders get better rates |
| Delivery city | Freight depends on distance and load |
| Standard and testing | Certificates and special tests can add cost |
How to compare quotes
- Same size, thickness, grade and length on every quote
- Same weight basis (actual weighment or theoretical)
- GST, freight, cutting and loading shown separately
- Validity period and payment terms
- Stock availability and dispatch time
